Kathmandu, June 12 – The 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and 8th Convention of the Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN) is scheduled to take place today. The convention will elect a new executive committee to lead the organization for the upcoming term.
As of now, two separate panels have announced their candidacies and are expected to compete in the election. The contest is primarily centered around the position of Senior Vice President, with current General Secretary Balram Khatiwada and current Vice President Uttam Bhlon Lama leading rival teams.

The Lama panel formally announced its team during a program held in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, current IPPAN President Ganesh Karki has expressed his preference for a consensus-based leadership transition. He stated that he would continue efforts until the last moment to facilitate a unanimous selection of the new leadership.
The election is being closely watched by Nepal’s hydropower and energy sector, as the new leadership will play a crucial role in advocating for policy reforms, investment promotion, power sector development, and the interests of independent power producers in the country.
