Kumari Bank Limited has planted 300 saplings in Ilam district on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026 as part of its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The plantation program was conducted through the bank’s Fikkal branch in collaboration with Ilam Municipality and Lumbini World Peace Forum. The saplings were planted within a tea garden area owned by Ilam Municipality.
According to the bank, the plantation initiative is expected to contribute to environmental improvement, the promotion of greenery, and the preservation of ecological balance in the region. The program is also viewed as a responsible step toward biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation.
The initiative is further expected to enhance the natural beauty of Ilam, one of Nepal’s most popular tourist destinations. By expanding green cover in the area, the project could contribute to the long-term development of sustainable tourism and environmental sustainability.
Having provided banking services for the past 25 years, Kumari Bank currently operates through a nationwide network of 286 branches and 41 extension counters. Under its “Kumari Bank for the Community” concept, the bank has been actively implementing various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives across the country.
These initiatives include the distribution of educational materials to underprivileged students, support for infrastructure development in community and government schools, distribution of sanitation and cleanliness materials, assistance to orphanages, and the organization of financial and digital literacy programs.
The bank has reiterated its commitment to continuing such community-focused and environmentally responsible programs in the years ahead, reflecting its broader goal of contributing to social development alongside financial services.
