The Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market Development Board has published the official minimum wholesale price list for agricultural produce for Wednesday, showing generally stable prices across most commodities, with a few items continuing to trade at relatively higher rates.
According to the latest bulletin, tomato prices remain mixed in the market. Large tomatoes, both Nepali and Indian varieties, are being traded at Rs. 60 per kg, while small local tomatoes are priced lower at Rs. 15 per kg. Similarly, small tomatoes from the Terai region are priced at Rs. 20 per kg.
Among staple vegetables, red long potatoes are priced at Rs. 35 per kg, Indian potatoes at Rs. 28 per kg, and Indian onions are trading at Rs. 42 per kg.
In the green vegetable category, local carrots are priced at Rs. 80 per kg, cabbage at Rs. 50 per kg, cauliflower at Rs. 40 per kg, and okra at Rs. 25 per kg. Pea pods (matar kosa) are being sold at a comparatively high rate of Rs. 150 per kg, while cluster beans are priced at Rs. 30 per kg and cowpea beans (rajma simee) at Rs. 70 per kg.
Fruit prices also remain varied in the market. Loose apples are priced at Rs. 200 per kg, Fuji apples at Rs. 208 per kg, lemons at Rs. 180 per kg, and pomegranates at Rs. 400 per kg. Local papaya is priced at Rs. 80 per kg, while Indian papaya stands at Rs. 90 per kg.
Bananas are being traded at Rs. 180 per dozen for local varieties and Rs. 200 per dozen for Malbhog bananas.
Among mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms remain the most expensive, with a minimum wholesale price of Rs. 800 per kg. Button mushrooms are priced at Rs. 320 per kg, king oyster mushrooms at Rs. 280 per kg, and oyster mushrooms at Rs. 200 per kg, according to the board.
The price update reflects ongoing supply conditions in the Kalimati market, where seasonal supply and transportation factors continue to influence daily wholesale rates.
