The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed in negative territory on Friday, slipping by 4.00 points (0.14%) to settle at 2,724.03, extending losses after Thursday’s decline of 8.14 points.
The benchmark index opened at 2,731.54 and moved within an intraday range of 2,717.69 to 2,733.31 before ending slightly lower.
Despite the decline in the index, market participation improved notably.
Trading Activity Strengthens
Daily turnover increased to Rs. 4.34 billion, reflecting stronger trading momentum compared to the previous session.
During the trading day:
- 342 listed companies participated in trading
- A total of 9,856,525 shares changed hands
- Trading was completed through 54,177 transactions
- Total market capitalization reached Rs. 46.54 Kharba
- Float market capitalization stood at Rs. 15.62 Kharba
Top Turnover and Market Movers
Among actively traded stocks, Central Finance Co. Ltd. recorded the highest turnover of the session, generating Rs. 25.53 crore in transactions. The stock closed at Rs. 659 per share.
On the gainers’ side, Sopan Pharmaceuticals Limited emerged as the top performer, advancing 14.99% and closing at Rs. 531.70.
Meanwhile, Kalinchock Hydropower Limited registered the sharpest decline of the day, dropping 10.66% to close at Rs. 1,066.
Sector Performance
Sectoral indices remained mixed.
- Mutual Fund sector recorded the highest gain, rising 0.38%
- Manufacturing and Processing posted the biggest sectoral loss, declining 0.49%
Overall, the session reflected cautious investor sentiment, with the market continuing its short-term correction despite increased trading volume and healthy turnover.
