Compared to the 2,950.16 level recorded before the new government took office, the benchmark index had fallen by 298.48 points, representing a 10.12% decline over the 100-day period.
The market's performance has surprised many investors and analysts, particularly given the formation of a stable majority government and the continuation of historically low interest rates, conditions that are generally considered supportive for equity markets. Instead, the prolonged decline suggests that investors remain cautious about Nepal's economic outlook and are looking for stronger policy implementation, structural reforms, and clearer measures to stimulate investment, improve corporate earnings, and restore confidence in the capital market.
