Nepal’s digital connectivity continues to expand rapidly, with total broadband subscriptions crossing 45 million and internet penetration reaching one of the highest levels recorded in the country’s telecommunications history.
According to the latest telecommunications indicators report published by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) for Baisakh 2083, the total number of broadband internet users in Nepal has reached 45.21 million. Based on population estimates, broadband penetration has exceeded 155%, reflecting widespread adoption of mobile data and fixed broadband services across the country.
The report also shows that Nepal’s total active voice telephony subscribers—including mobile and fixed-line users—have reached 30.25 million, equivalent to 103.71% of the national population. This indicates that mobile connectivity has become nearly universal, with many users maintaining multiple subscriptions.
Nepal Telecom Maintains Lead in Voice Services
In the voice communication market, Nepal Telecom remains the largest operator with a market share of 53.58%, serving more than 16.2 million customers. Ncell continues to hold the second position with a 46.41% share and over 14 million active users.
Mobile services dominate Nepal’s telecom landscape, accounting for 98.62% of total voice subscriptions, while traditional fixed-line services represent only a small portion of overall connectivity.
4G and Fiber Internet Continue to Drive Growth
The report highlights that Nepal’s internet growth is being powered mainly by mobile broadband and fiber-based home internet services.
Mobile broadband accounts for 88.74% of total broadband subscriptions, while fixed broadband contributes 11.15%. Within mobile internet, 4G remains the dominant technology with more than 26.7 million users, while older 3G adoption continues to decline.
Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services have also expanded significantly. Nepal currently has more than 3.45 million fiber connections nationwide. Based on average household usage estimates, fixed broadband is now estimated to reach more than 15 million users—covering over half of Nepal’s population.
WorldLink Continues to Lead Nepal’s Fixed Broadband Market
Among internet service providers (ISPs), WorldLink Communications remains Nepal’s largest fixed broadband provider with a market share of 30.93% and more than 1.07 million customers.
Nepal Telecom holds second place, followed by Dish Media Network, Vianet Communications, Classic Tech, and Subisu CableNet. Other growing players in the market include Websurfer Nepal, TechMinds Network, WiFi Nepal, and CG Communications.
The latest figures suggest that Nepal’s internet ecosystem is increasingly shifting toward high-speed mobile and fiber connectivity, reflecting changing consumer behavior and growing digital adoption across households and businesses.
